Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize
Add to Favourites‘As Principal of Ravenswood I am delighted to present the Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize. Inspiring and connecting women visual artists, this significant Art Prize will strengthen the profile and legitimacy of careers in art for current and future generations of Australian women,’ Anne Johnstone, Principal of Ravenswood.
The Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize is an initiative of Ravenswood School for Girls to advance art and opportunity for emerging and established women artists in Australia. It is the highest value art prize for women in Australia and provides a unique platform to engage and connect women artists across Australia and internationally.
First conducted in 2017, the Art Prize is an annual, acquisitive prize with three entry categories: Professional Artist Prize of $35,000, Emerging Artist Prize of $5000, and Indigenous Emerging Artist Prize of $5000. Entries in the Art Prize represent every state and territory in Australia, including remote and very remote regions. All media is accepted and artists are asked to enter an artwork that best reflects their art practice.
Artwork judging is overseen by Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize Patron Jennifer Turpin and judges Kathryn Minkley and Kathryn Hendy-Ekers. A guest judge is invited to assist in the final round of judging.
Winners are announced at the Art Prize Opening Night held in May each year and the Exhibition of Finalists is open to the community following the Opening Night.
