Community Service

Favourite
Year 10 Community Service is designed to support and encourage service to the community, whilst at the same time raising awareness of the less fortunate members of our society. Community Service is voluntarily undertaken by Year 10 students, who wish to serve not-for-profit organisations, or alternatively the Ravenswood School community.

In their Mentor Groups, students are encouraged to consider their talents and abilities in relation to serving others. Some students may identify a preference to work with the aged, while others may have a passion for animals or the environment. Mentors support students with this process, and help them identify how they can be of service. Students are then encouraged to independently find a placement at a recognised organisation, where they are required to fulfil a minimum of five hours service over two terms. Their hours are recorded and they receive a certificate from the school, acknowledging their contribution to the lives of others.
